No, you bring a stop gap player in for a year, so you can either groom a guy behind the vet or draft a player for that spot on 2014. Either way a stop gap guy should be added at Tackle.
    2014 Mock Draft

    1. Zack Martin - OT/OG - Notre Dame
    2. Chris Borland - ILB - Wisconsin
    3. C.J. Fiedeorowicz - TE - Iowa
    4. Trai Turner - OG - LSU
    5. Brandon Thomas - OT/OG - Clemson
    6. Storm Johnson - RB - South Florida
    7. Calvin Barnett - DT - Oklahoma State

ideally, i would want to sign Winston to start at RT & McKinnie (if his price tag is really cheap) as a backup LT, since we currently have no real backup LT if Martin goes down.

    LT: Martin
    RG: Incognito
    C: Pouncey
LG: Thomas? (if not, probably Samuda or Louis)
    RT: Winston

PRIMARY BACKUPS: McKinnie(LT), Samuda (C/G), Jerry (G/RT) .... Yeatman (T)- if he works out as a successful development project, then he makes it- will be interesting to see

I would be very content with that O-Line come the start of the season

Pretty much the same situation as KC and Albert/Fisher. Except Monroe's salary ($3.8M this year, FA next )and future demands are much lower than Alberts.
He has started 4 years for the jags and only missed 3 games. If we were going to trade a pick for a LT I would rather get Monroe than Fat Albert.

Also like the option of getting Eric Winston which wouldn't cost us a draft pick.
I like the Monroe idea. Younger, healthier and better than Albert. You might could pry him from Jags for a 2nd and change. They have a lot of holes to fill so draft picks would come in handy for them.

Much like WR a year ago, what I see happening is Ireland waiting a year to fill the LT void. I think they give Martin a shot and if he pans out, great. If he doesn't, there is a pretty good crop of FA left tackles next season (Ryan Clady, Monroe, Albert, Jared Veldheer, Marshall Newhouse) and they may just go that route.

Looks like my gut feeling was not accurate...lol. Hey, I have been a big supporter of the Albert deal. However, I also stated that I thought a 3 or a 4 was a fair considering a big contract was to follow. JI handled the situation well and we move on.

Jeff Darlington tonight was on NFLTA. He mentioned that while others think the Albert deal is dead, he wonders if it could be revived in a few months. Interesting.

I saw that, but did not want to start a thread. Can you imagine the outrage if Free is signed by Jeff?
