I hope we all don't have to learn a very important lesson. Don't piss off a billionaire.

Ross isn't a spring chicken. Yes, he could sell the team, and even if he doesn't he could pass it to his family who could. Without a quality stadium solution, without decent attendance, without revenue streams, there's a decent chance the team is sold. Any new owner would likely look at fundamental changes for a franchise that has fallen on hard times financially. Winning surely helps, but contrary to popular rhetoric, it doesn't solve everything. We are a team out of the primary market in a less than grand stadium and participating in a saturated sports and entertainment market. These don't add up to great things, even if we make the next step and start winning as I expect us to do. We would be nave to rule out the Dolphins playing in LA or somewhere else in the future. The entrenchment against the Dolphins doesn't bode well from any perspective.
"I want guys who want to make an impact on and off the field. Good human beings. Guys who want to get better. Guys who want to improve. They want to be great, want to win. Those types of guys we can work with every day." --Joe Philbin

If this is true then they weren't serious about this to begin with. Changing the political system takes time. Changing the politics system to provide guaranteed profits to a carpetbagging billionaire from out of state takes more time. Especially when you have politically connected in-state billionaires who would rather the guaranteed profit go to themselves.

If Ross is saying that is the end of asking public funds it doesn't augur well for the Fins future in Miami. Add poor attendances that aren't likely to fill the stadium regardless of success and why would you keep the fins in Miami?

If im a new owner from new york or texas etc and I inherit a team with a rundown stadium, poor ticket sales and low tv figures... That has no contractual ties to the city they play in then I can assure you at the very least I would look at my options regarding relocating the team.
