I would probably go to being a Chargers fan until the Dolphins franchise inevitably returned to Miami ala the Browns.
You all are needlessly worried though. The team won't leave from Miami.
Could you make the same argument regarding LA and Miami? Beach cities with a ton of things to do other than follow local pro teams? (Unless they are winning)
It is also a great spot for Super Bowls that I don't think the NFL would want to lose for all-time.
In addition, the team has been a major part of NFL history, with the undefeated season, Don Shula and Dan Marino. I doubt they would want to lose all that. If the team moves, I doubt they would take the dolphin name with them since it wouldn't make sense in any other cities other than maybe LA.
The NFL isn't dumb, they aren't about to lose a major market over a stupid stadium issue. They understand that winning teams perform quite well in South Florida, look no further than the current Heat fandom and look back at the glory years of the Dolphins.
If the Dolphins become perennial contenders again, the fans will come back in droves, and there is no chance the team will move at that point.
There are folks around here too young to remember the ; Oakland move to LA...and LA's move to Oakland...Rams move to Arizona...Houston's move to Nashville, Cleveland's move to Balt....it's all based on economics. If you're owner can't make money, he can move it with league approval. So before you get on the high horse and claim this or that, remember history. You better support the owner, he holds the key to the car.
"I'll read anything Dolphin, even the crap Omar writes"
Take a step back from the ledge... South Florida is a HUGE market that the NFL would not want to lose long term! You are completely dense if you believe Miami wouldn't get another NFL team.
The sky is not falling. Exhale and enjoy your weekend. This stupid bandaid stadium referendum isn't a death knell for the Dolphins. The stadium is still in decent shape by most standards, it certainly isn't at Qualcomm levels yet.
