Clemons is a guy everyone carps about but he is solid, again in house we have Marshall as a potential option and it's not like he's gonna break the bank, he's replaceable. We've got Odrick to slide in for Starks and quality depth at DT, if Randall doesn't show enough we'll have to draft a guy to replace Soliai because I don't think much of Martin. Carroll is no loss and you know that, Grimes will be significant but again we brought in 2 guys in the first 3 rounds that are going to compete for the top 3 spots, they don't replace him but they are options. You drafted Sims behind Keller (small tag for TE's anyway) and Clabo is a stop gap who is also relatively affordable considering he isn't playing a premium position.

The only guys I consider big losses without anybody on the roster that can develop and fill the role is Grimes. The rest of the guys are replaceable and with the roll over and a lot of big contracts coming off the books (consider the fact we'll likely cut Patterson, Carp anyway) and we are in decent shape. 2014 is the tough cap year, but in the grand scheme of things it's a manageable situation if we have our high draft picks show us something. I read a good article on it, I'll try to dig it up but I know you're well informed anyway.
i would disagree with you on carroll being no loss but i seem to like carrolls upside and skills more than a lot of people do around here...and right now at least he's dirt cheap

losing carp off the books and a marshall or patterson or both would definitely help things no doubt and that's always possible but probably only if these rooks show pretty well in camp...

my biggest issue contract wise was ellerbee's as u can see it escalates basically to dansby money . Although if neither player at lb work out we take about a 10 million dollar cap hit in 3rd year

3/12/2013: Signed a five-year, $34.75 million contract. The deal contains $14 million guaranteed -- a $7 million signing bonus and each of Ellerbe's first two base salaries. Ellerbe is eligible for annual $25,000 workout bonuses throughout the contract's life. 2013: $1 million, 2014: $6 million, 2015: $8.425 million, 2016: $6.45 million, 2017: $6 million, 2018: Free Agent

you've basically got these lb additions for 3 years...and then you can get out kinda like we did this year with dansby and burnett if you want to...although with ellerbe that last 2 years at $6 mil is not hateful provided he's playing solid football then...

Ellerbe signed a 5 year deal with guaranteed money at $14 million. That's nowhere near Mayo's contract.

Ellerbe could be cut after year 2 with minimal consequences. All of his guaranteed money is due in the first 2 years of the contract. We could cut him after 2014 and only take a $4.2 million cap hit for 2015. Its WAY cheaper than Dansby or Mayo. You guys are focusing too much on the back end fluff of the contract.

Basically, Ellerbe signed a 2 year $14 million dollar contract, with an option for additional years. Quit worrying.

so same amount per year as his contract as I have said before. so its a similar contract just shorter in length but he is still making the same money per year as Mayo regardless even if he gets cut early. Not much different than a Dansby contract that he signed when he was a hot free agent

So as u say he gets paid the same as two of the best inside linebackers in league 7 million per year Im referring to Bowman and Mayo
