You know what Philbin cares about instead?
New energy. New leadership in the locker room. New direction. New, bold moves that suggest even general manager Jeff Ireland is enduring a maturation process that has him making decisions in a way that could lead to something more than the boring, wasted seasons of old.
Philbin's concerned with getting his team to a Super Bowl -- and you can bet he doesn't care where it's held or what his team is wearing when it gets there. Believe it or not, he and Ireland have put in the work this offseason, strictly from a football standpoint, to get the Dolphins as close as they've been in years.
Within the last two months, no team in the NFL has made more dramatic decisions. No team has proven, whether for the sake of saving jobs or selling tickets or winning games, to be more invested in a drastic turnaround for the season ahead.

    from the article:

and then, on the first day of the 2013 NFL Draft, when Ireland realized he wasn't going to be able to move up from the No. 12 spot into a position to land wide receiver Tavon Austin, he pressed his foot to gas pedal rather than hitting the brakes. Ireland approached Philbin with the prospect of trying to move up to No. 3 to get a player the organization had rated even higher than Austin, DE/OLB Dion Jordan

I liked Austin as well but I keep thinking back to that hit on Pat White who by the way was fantastic in college also.
I'm more than happy with Dion Jordan.

I'd speculate to say that if we were to draft Tavon it was simply because he's a one of a kind talent. It's not like receiver is a need; we have solid depth at the position. So in the later rounds rather than clog up that 4-5 which already has promising prospects in Mathews Binns and Fuller, we decided to take care of more pressing needs with value picks. i.e. CB, blocking TE, and depth at LB (which if you watched Trusnik last year cost us several big plays in his limited playing time was sorely needed)

They said Austin was a target but Jordan was a higher one on their board.

Both are a bit of a gamble. Both have amazing upsides.

I'm happy with the draft and ecstatic about the many free agents. 2 starting LB's and a starting CB (potentilly) on D and 2 WR's and a TE along with a tackle and guard that may all be starters too.

This team has been rebuilt over night (3 months) and I'm ready for the games to start.

Dlockz is generally pretty polite. I don't think it's fair to slam him in a thread - in which he isn't even posting - just because he has different opinions than you.
