New Miami Dolphin Dannell Ellerbe can handle a fair amount of pain. He played for the Baltimore Ravens last season with bulky casts on both of his broken thumbs and took cortisone shots, too, so that bulging discs and a bum ankle wouldn’t keep him out of the postseason lineup.
These injuries the dreadlocked linebacker can discuss with a smile because they are behind him. Just don’t mention the 2009 draft. That cut may never completely heal.
“I don’t even watch the draft anymore,” Ellerbe said Wednesday at the end of a voluntary helmets-and-shorts workout inside the Dolphins’ practice bubble. “It was very bitter for me.”
