Need a little help from the locals

I'll be making my second trip to watch our beloved Dolphins in Miami. My first trip was the season opener many years ago against Denver. We stayed in Miami and I think that may have been a mistake. Because I'm not familiar with the area I'm wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction. My wife and I will be going to the game. We want to make a short vacation out of the trip. Where would you suggest we stay? I was thinking that Fort Lauderdale may be a better. We want to spend sometime on the beach and in close proximety to bars and restraunts/night life. Any suggestions? thank you in advance.

IMO, you have to go to South Beach. Everywhere else is kinda vanilla.

If you want to stay near the beach then I suggest you look near the Las Olas area in Ft. Lauderdale. If you want to have a shorter drive to the stadium then you need to look farther west..I live in Daive wiich is west and it takes me about 30-40 minutes to get to the stadium on game day. Of course we leave early in the am. Just for reference Davie is near where the Dolphins training facility is at Nova University.

Forogt about hard rock. Love going there that would be perfect suggestion for them. If they can get a room. Not too long a ride to to beach or stadium.

On the beach, plush great accommodations and golf....a straight shot west to the stadium, ...or the HardRock Hotel &Casino, fast drive down to South Beach (clothing-optional Haulover Beach on the way), adjacent to the regentrified Hollywood broadwalk, a couple of miles from the airport, not far north from the Los Olas area and the main part of Ft Lauderdale Beach, can't really go wrong booking here if their rates aren't an issue.

North Miami Beach is nice. It's about 15-20 mins from the stadium.

great suggesions, thank you. I think im going to look into Hardrock. Last time I stayed somewhere in Biscayne Bay. Nice hotel but I was really disappointed in the surrounding area. We took a cab down to south beach but everything that was remotely nice was a long cab ride.

My vote is the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas. It puts you right in the middle of Fort Lauderdale nightlife, tons of places to eat, at the top of the Las Olas shopping district, and a short trolly ride right down Las Olas to the most popular part of Fort Lauderdale beach. More laid back, less crowded, and less expensive than South Beach or the Hard Rock. Pay the extra $10-$20 for a room in the executive tower. The rooms are much nicer.

The Hard Rock is very nice for a single night, but the room for a Saturday night will be twice the Riverside, and while you have a lot of shopping, gambling, and bars on site, you have 20 minute drive if you want to do anything off the reservation. Of you do stay there absolutely get a reservation for the brunch at Council Oak as soon as they open. Expensive, but I have to say the best pregame food I have ever eaten.

When my Fam and I went 2010 we stayed in Ft Lauderdale.
Was very close to the training facility and the stadium. The beach is sick.
Have to check out all three places. Hard Rock is sick as hell. They gave me pin. The Dolphins training facility gave me a fan pack with roster pics, stickers, pennant, book marks.
Someday I'm moving down there and getting season tix.
