Secondly, IMHO, nitpicking is fine, but the important thing is our beloved Dolphins, and as this article illustrates, our future looks bright. This is a welcome change from the typical post-Shula era.
Thirdly, while I probably would have uses the term lacking, I think lagging is fine too.
If one uses a comparative perception of time, lagging would be inaccurate and thus inappropriate, as was eloquently explained. Well done with that too.
But, if one subscribes to a linear concept of time then lagging is both accurate and appropriate. As in, the race has started and while Tannehill may not have been in the NFL yet at the time of the starting gun, history doesn't wait for him. Just like Brady is chasing other QB's for many records, Tannehill is chasing Brady and currently Tannehill lags behind in that race.
While it is expected that Tannehill will have more years to catch up after Brady retires, the spectre of injuries means there is no guarantee.
Let's hope Tannehill catches up to and then surpasses Brady.
