Palin offers to create "Freedom Party"

Toying with the idea of starting a new political party? You betcha.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin entertained building a "Freedom Party" while answering Twitter questions on Fox News Saturday.

One user asked, Would you & Mark Levin be willing to build a 'Freedom Party' if GOP continues to ignore conservatives?

"I love the name of that party the 'Freedom Party,'" Palin replied. "And if the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and Reagan, then yeah."

The 2008 Republican nominee for vice president said that many conservatives with "that libertarian streak" feel ignored by the GOP. If this presumed neglect continues, Palin said, creating a new home for conservatives might not be such a bad idea.

Palin expects more and more people who want government off their backs to ask, "You know, what's wrong with being independent?"

"I think there will be a lot of us who start saying, 'GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in a one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation, either a Democrat or a Republican."

She said that these organizations are private and "no one forces us to be enlisted in either party."

Because if there is one person libertarians think of when it comes to representing their values, its Sarah Palin.

Fascinated to see the positions of the "Freedom Party". The restrictions involved with the positions should be hilarious.

At least it's not the libertarian party. Her motto for the party should be "Freedom costs a buck o' five".

I happen to be a registered Republican who actually wants small government.

Yeah, I am right there with you. Unfortunately, our party apparently only agrees with us on paper.
