That was a huge play. Miami probably goes on to a fairly easy win if Bokamper makes the play. That changed the momentum for sure. Give Theisman credit, though, for knocking the ball loose.

WAIT!?!?!?! Is cloning Don Shula an option?
That would be my first choice as well. It's not just losing two elite players in Csonka and Warfield, it's how Miami could draft differently with those guys still around. I always thought the team would have won one more title, but it wouldn't have been easy with the emergence of the Steelers.

Agreed, all day long. We were on a great path at that point. The team Jimmy Johnson had built was coming together, as was evident in the successful years we had, even with Wanny as coach. This move is the one that has the most far-reaching effects to the present day. Without Wanny, maybe our talent evaluator who is NOT RICK SPIELMAN drafts Brees. We never miss out on Brees, we never hire Saban or Cam Cameron, or Bill Parcells. Important as well, New England actually has a team in the AFC East that can stand up to them just as their dynasty begins.

Things like the sea of hands, Super Bowl XIX, those are outcomes dependent on many people working together to alter an outcome. All we had to do is say NO to the Stache. Hire ANYONE but him or Norv Turner and we could have been in the Super Bowl. The talent on the 99-02 teams was staggering.
Not saying he was a great coach at all, but I'm not exactly sure why you all are acting like a Jay Fiedler-led team was supposed to go much further than it did.

Conservative play calling and bad draft decisions. Similar to Wade Phillips in Dallas. He's terrible, but his team was talented. Tony Romo is not a Super Bowl QB on his own. Dallas could win with one of them, not both. Too much stupid and ineptitude.
Contending is for people who are ok with losing. I do not want to contend, I want to dominate.

"Because they wouldn't let me go for 3".
Woody Hayes describing why he went for 2, late in a game with Michigan while up 40 points.
