DB Jimmy Wilson is focusing solely on safety this season.

Dolphins DB Jimmy Wilson is focusing solely on safety this season.

Wilson entered the league as a cornerback out of Montana in 2011, and he rotated snaps between both defensive back spots last season. With the additions of Brent Grimes, Will Davis, Dimitri Patterson, and Jamar Taylor over the last few months, Wilson can focus on one position. He'll fill a reserve role behind starters Reshad Jones and Chris Clemons, while playing special teams
per palm beach post. im glad he will be strictly safety, its his natural position.

Interesting, I like the kid. I think he will be a very serviceable back up and solid ST player.

i am pretty sure we are paying this kid peanuts anyways. Even if he is not our great next safety, line him up up on ST as a Gunner and let him go hit someone!! Kid can pop a hit thats for sure.

Would be great for our depth if he can adapt.

He's on the bubble IMO. Reshad Jones, Chris Clemons and Kelcie McCray have three of the spots sewn up. Wilson is good blitzing and good in run support but he can't cover and you need that in a league that passes. He'll have to battle it out with Tyrone Culver, Don Jones, Jordan Kovacs and Keelan Johnson and Culver is a special teams stalwart.

I could be wrong, but I've always viewed Wilson as a better ST's player than Culver.

we'll see, but i see McCray (whom the FO really liked) and Kovacs (worst case will be a ST maven) as the 2 main players behind Clemons and Jones ....

Guys like Carroll, Wilson and even Culver will really have to show to hold a spot this year ...

Roster spots this year are going to be much harder to earn this time around as compared to last year, which of course is a very good thing. We really have an 'up and coming' roster ....
