really? I almost didnt even do this poll but I figured the reponse would be so overwhelming in favor of him staying that I would add to it. It is obvious Philbin is going to be a great coach. He has the players working harder than any team out there, and they love and respect him. Ireland will also stay around. IMO he has done great the last 3 years. This team is actually going to be good. I know its early and we dont know for sure, but I am supremely confident in the team we have right now. Havent been as excited about a Phins team since.....**** I cant remember. Maybe 02 when we got Sticky Icky Ricky williams??....which also happens to be the most disappointing team in my memory....Dammit. The difference here is.......Tannehill!!! Fiedler was a game manager at best.
"hey atleast I'm housebroken!"
also .500 or below Ireland needs to be sent packing but over 5 wins I give Philben another year. The caveat to that if we are getting beatdown by teams we should be beating then Philben might should go too but I agree record wise with your thoughts
When Death Smiles Upon You the Infantryman smiles back
Im sure Im labeled in that category and I don't care because only an idiot would believe that. I just don't give credit to mediocrity and hold the team I cheer for to a higher standard even though over the past 5 years has been among the worst in the history of the dolphins in my opinion. I hope we have righted the ship but hope the owner has the balls to do what is necessary to build a winner instead of the flub he did in Sparano's last season. For all the flack that Huzienga got he never retained a losing coach.

Some on here have such a spoiled p.o.v they act like the biggest victims in the history of sports, as if the Dolphins have been the worst team in America for the last 20 years and that no other fan can understand their suffering... Thats utter b.s.
Burst out laughing at the one star. Well played.
It seems a couple of individuals have popped up and complain about "negative thread!". While no one quoted my post when complaining, i started this thread so i'll address that point:
I didnt pass an opinion one way or another. I wanted to let it play out before stating my own view. I was going to let it go for a day(gave it 10 days before it locks). Why did i choose .500 for the record? Because that was the question posed in the past about our GM(a poll/thread i linked in the original post). Many expect us to succeed this season, so if we dont i was curious where blame would be laid. Who our fans would demand be held accountable for our disappointing season. Ireland got the pass last time, so the obvious answer would be Philbin. Apparently this forum feels its fair to keep Philbin for a 3rd year. When creating the poll i felt that might happen, but it would in the 50-60% range while people argued it was a lacking roster/tough schedule/inexperienced players and not lack coaching. I didnt expect 95%.
Which is not to say im disappointed, because i agree. I like Philbin and i feel we played well above our talent level last season. I thought he brought a lot to the table, i loved the coaching staff he assembled, i agree with (most) of his vision for this team, and felt he made improvements as the year went on. I have my hesitations with him but they are far outweighed by the positives. If we struggle this season, then i believe Philbin should be retained. Or, another way of looking at it, if we struggle this season it wont be because of coaching, the problem will lie on the talent of this roster.
That the majority of this forum apparently believes we should keep both Ireland and Philbin if we go 7-9/8-8 is interesting.
