    Would You Kill Baby Hitler?

    Interesting question.

The obvious immediate answer is: Sure.

Then one considers the butterfly effect. What if the horrific holocaust actually killed 2 or 3 people who would have gone on to be like Joseph Stalin? Odds are vastly against that. But what if by killing Hitler as a baby - you accidentally allow bloodlines to continue that could in turn (say 2 generations later) start WWIII & the end of mankind? Now, by thinking you were saving lives, you've just killed yourself and everyone else due to nuclear winter.

Kind of a twisty pretzel, huh?

We probably would not have personal computers if not for the Nazi rocket program and Americas needs during the arms and space race that followed.

I wouldn't because most assuredly a hitler like figure would probably have rose up and did something similar. He wasn't intrinsically any more evil than some other people in Germany at time.
Now Hitler the adult most assuredly but if u could alter something like going back in time and killing Hitler then you could alter his actual future without killing him. The events of world war 1 contributed to the events of world war 2. In fact if u could prevent world war 1 Hitler probably never comes to power. It is a butterfly affect and killing Hitler probably just diverts his actions to another.

While I won't disagree about the path of unknown and unintended consequences, he joined the already existing Nazi party because it espoused his ideals...nationalism, anti-semitism, anti-communism, anti-Capitalism. But focusing on the video and moral conundrum aspect, why kill instead of maim?

I wouldn't kill the lil feller, I'd just change his last name to Herskowitz and let him go about life in a different manor.

Ira Glass (NPR, This American Life) closed his speech at my college commencement with: "When you get your chance to shoot Adolf Hitler, you will know what to do. That's my wish to you."

I would not kill the infant Hitler. People are a product of their environment. I would buy him a box of Maltza balls, a yamica. a dredel, and put him in good Jewish school.
IMHO...In principle, he would not be guilty of crimes until he commits the crime.
