How can you cut a guy when you know his wife is preggo???

    Cruel and heartless.

Get rid of him AFTER knocking up HIS wife!
. Yeah, let's keep a guy who doesn't perform well, for whatever reason. If he did his job he'd still have a job

I believe any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle...Victorious

    This!

Not to mention he cost us MINIMUM 2 games last year. Sorry, but you dont get to come back at $3M a year at that rate. Not to mention our rookie crushed a 58 yarder last week.

He's a millionaire and he will find a new team. I'm supposed to feel sorry for him?

Right...Carp has plenty of money and totally saw this coming.
He will be a starting kicker somewhere for sure.

It's incredible to see the reasons people continue these 'fire Ireland threads.

Actually, if anything Ireland did him a favor by cutting him with 3 weeks left in the preseason. He has a better chance to land with a new team now than he would if he were a final cut. We all knew that as long as Sturgis lived up to expectations this was happening, and he just booted a 58-yard FG against JAX, so why is anyone surprised that the FO decided it was time to make this decision? I liked Carpenter, but the past couple years he was getting less reliable and you can count a couple games this last season that went from a "W" to an "L" because he couldn't seal the deal. Why do you think we even drafted a kicker to begin with?

He's been making good money the past few years. He probably has a great accountant. No one is telling him he has to give money back to the team. He'll be fine.
