MERGED: Some Former Phins to Skip White House Visit

Some refusing to go to meet the President.
I like what Langer said- Weve got some real moral compass issues in Washington, Hall of Fame center Jim Langer said. I dont want to be in a room with those people and pretend Im having a good time. I cant do that. If that (angers) people, so be it.

I applaud him, just as I would anyone who didn't want to see Bush.

"The organization has struggled from a personnel standpoint over the years. For instance, they drafted me in the second round. . . . You don't recover from those types of mistakes." - Rob Konrad on the team's questionable draft picks from 1998-2003.

To each his own. I would go, and I'm about as Anti-Obama as you get. I personally think refusing a chance
to see the POTUS is disrespectful to the office.

True I think some people just want to make some kind of political statement out of something that really is not political. Love him or hate him he is the President of the Unites States. I didnt respect Bush on a personal level but if I were invited to white house I would go when he was president. I was on a security detail for Dan Quayle and it was still a great honor even if he was a buffoon.

And those who also get it, know that Ireland gets it. Those who are clueless are still concerned about cornfed and the running game"

WVDOLPHAN "The last thing this team should be worried about is the OC(offensive corn). When you add it all up, its really a pretty solid OC"

That's pretty much the way I feel about it. I didn't have that big a problem with Bush. No more than most Presidents.....But I would NEVER
have turned down a white house visit. You are turning your back on America when you do that, IMO. I can't ****ing stand Obama, but he's the
President, and just like my in laws...I can grit my teeth and be cordial. As long as we don't talk politics.

Might be disrespectful to the office is what this country needs ... Rep or dem, this country has been in a mess for a while and folks in dc need a wakeup call.

I actually respect the office more, the actual office, walls, carpet and furniture, haha. Like you said Boss, it is a once in a lifetime event, and you're being invited. The best part is that everyone has the freedom to choose. No comment from Don yet, although I expect he'll attend. He's kind of a big deal!

Its not really about politics its about getting recognition for a unique achievement and respect of the office. I am way lefty liberal but I would never disrespect any POTUS, quite frankly I would be thrilled to meet any of them that are still alive and would gladly shake their hand and thank them for their service and leadership its not easy being the leader of the free world. I would have loved to have sit down with Nixon and picked his brain. It's a shame that nowadays we cant disagree politically and not sit down and still come together as Americans. Some how it has become us vs them and there is no middle ground anymore. It's a shame they cannot see being summoned to the White House by any POTUS is the highest honor any American citizen should strive for. There is no politics here, its a salute to a game that has become ingrained in our way of life so silly they need to stand up against their own achievement

Langer was asked a question and he answered it honestly. Half of the people in this country disagree with with the current president and administration.
I hope Shula goes..it is really about honoring his accomplishment IMHO. The players will go because it is long over due.
All that said, it really suuks that Obama is the sitting POTUS

When the new reports that Tenneesee Tuxedo and his side kick Chumley meet the POTUS, you can comment on Chumley.
