Low Winter Sun
Caught the pilot of this adaptation of a Brit series (including 2 of the main characters sans-limey accents). Very dark and dreary from a mood and ambient standpoint (shot on location in gritty Detroit) with a constant undertone of menace. Lots of moral ambiguities where the good guys aren't necessarily good and vice versa. Looks like there'll be a number of different layers with a common intersection point. So far so good... as my litmus test is whether I"m disappointed the episode was over. If you're after something like Sunny in Philly, don't bother. Has anyone else seen this?
If The Killing
was always rainy with a high chance of moody and somber, Low Winter Sun
is definitely dark and seedy with the very faintest sense of humor. This show means serious business and the deeper into the world we go, the more shady, gritty and corrupt it becomes.
