It just looks like it's been stripped of it's underlying story (just like Total Recall) and turned into a flashy action flick with another guy in a black suit. The original Robocop was great for several reasons. The action was great, but a smaller part of it.

actually I liked the lead actor in the show "the killing" so as a fan of his, i'm looking forward to this movie, and it does look slick .

I like most of the actors in it. But great actors can't overcome bland writing and cliched sets. It will make a good amount of money though, so they'll keep making them with minimal effort.

What underlying story? Because I recently watched the original and to be honest, that movie is more violence than story. But still damned enjoyable.

If anything I think they are trying to focus more on story than on the violence. But I can only base that on the trailers.

Looks like they are really trying to sell this one. That could be a good or bad thing.
Oh yeah, and they show him battling an ED-209.

OK. So I just got back from seeing this. I gotta say, I am seriously impressed. Yes, the critics are right. There isn't much action. To me though, that's Ok because the story more than makes up for it.

There are some nods to the to the original which is nice. I will say I still hate the black suit. Though in the context of the movie it works. If there is a sequel, which I am hoping for, they will use the silver suit. There are some other things I like about it, but I can't really say because it may spoil things.

One more thing. Joel Kinnaman nails it as Alex Murphy. They couldn't have picked a better guy to replace Peter Weller.

Great movie. worthy of the namesake. If I had one grip, it's that they didn't have any clever takes on materialism and apathy that the original showed in it's parody commericals.

So I made it to the movie and I must say it was quite good. I liked how they focused a bit more on the man rather than the robot.

The only thing that seemed sort of lame to me was the ending. How is he going to kill the owner, CEO or whoever he was of OCP and continue to exist, regardless of right or wrong? Where would the funding come from? I suppose that is why it's just a movie.
