Winner Under Construction
Yeah, I grew up in the mountains of Virginia in the early 70's, which is when I became a Dolphins fan. For some reason, I just wasn't into the Redskins like everyone else was at that time and place. I rarely had anyone to validate or appreciate how I felt about the Dolphins then or at any time since then. Before the advent of the internet, there were no sources to read up on the Dolphins everyday unless you lived in Florida. Well, I don't think I've ever lived within 800 miles of Miami and I've certainly been half a world away on numerous occasions.

I'm pretty used to not needing or caring what anyone says about my Dolphins unless it is hard news that actually affects their performance. For a LONG time the only opinion I got about the Dolphins came from the Dolphin Digest or my friends who nearly all rooted for their local team.
The cool part about my isolation as a fan, was that the Dolphins were always a competitive, and often an exceptional team at the national level during those years before the internet. As a result, I usually got a lot of respect from locals as a Dolphins fan.
