Pelosi ""There's no more cuts to make."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says that while deficit reduction is a laudable goal, there are precious few spending cuts left to negotiate in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.
"The cupboard is bare," the California Democrat said in an interview aired Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union." "There's no more cuts to make."

Pelosi actually said "there is nothing left to cut". Are you ****ing kidding me??? Here is the problem...both parties are statists that refuse to cut anything meaningful or significant. Both sides want bloated and unfundable budgets. And don't give a damn about the consequences. Pucker up America....something far worse than the government shutdown is on the horizon.

From what I heard on talk radio, the government shutdown only effects 10-12% of the budget. In actuality, that is what we need to cut to get the country turned around. No matter how this turns out, it will be Obama's legacy because no one will care or remember who was sitting in the senate or house.
The democrats will have no choice but to cave in. Holding their breath until they turn blue will accomplish nothing. They should just do the right thing and negotiate with the house and reach some compromises like adults

Your firsts two sentences indicate exactly why this has been so rough on the GOP. How can they play the victim when theyve been screaming "this needs to happen!" for years?

The majority of the public blames Republicans and Newt Gingrich for the Clinton era shutdown. Gingrich has been plagued by questions about it while Clinton is remembered as brilliant. In 15 years, people will be using words like "Tea Party" and "Boehner" to describe who was at fault for this one.

And they have compromised. They agreed to the GOP budget and the ACA is the healthcare compromise. Yet another reason why Republicans are owning this thing: they dont have a clear cause, something to rally the public around, for this shutdown. Just like every situation this country has faced in the last 3 years, Republicans tried to make it all about Obamacare. And like every situation since the 2010 election, the public has largely tuned it out.
I dont know what to tell you if you expect Senate Democrats and the President to actually delay or defund his healthcare bill. Its already going off. In a week or so Republicans are going to have little choice in passing the budget. I expect they will dress it up, celebrate getting a concession such as a promise to negotiate spending months from now(something Democrats have already agreed to because its a basic part of their jobs) but nothing tangible will be gained from this. Thats what happens when you play stupid politics to appease a minority of your base.
