I'm going to be incommunicado for a while. Don't worry, it's a good thing.
When the most recent financial crash brought my career in security contracting
to an abrupt end, I went almost a year without being employed. Since I was
a contractor, I couldn't manage to get any unemployment, so as a result, I
burned through my savings and ended up losing my house. It's been rentals
and moving around in the same area of Central Texas since.
Well, all that's changed. I never thought I would get a break again, but I have.
I have purchased a house in southern Texas. My BIL really came through for
me and owner financed a place for me. It's a fixer upper, but as of last night, it
belonged to me and my wife.
I'm transferring units. From the maximum security unit here I worked at, to
a minimum/medium unit near where I'm going to be living. I've already done
my orientation week there, and in fact, tonight is my first regular shift there.
It's a pretty major culture shock. The only medium custody they have is one
small wing, and they are mainly just big titty-babies that think they are holding
something, as opposed to what I'm used to.
Yoakum is the town...I don't really live IN the town. I live outside of it on five acres.
It's going to be a minute before we get the internet/satellite etc transferred, so that's why.
I'm gonna be an honest to goodness redneck!
Mom will be so proud.
