    Video: Why Libertarians Are Idiots

I saw this yesterday and I think this guy nails it.

I like this video. I just wish people would stop being so selfish and would actually have some decency besides wanting nothing but money and taking shortcuts. That's what's killing this planet.

What makes the people in charge of regulating the economy more qualified to do that than us common idiots? Divine right?

We don't have the legislative authority to regulate the economy.

Well, this is interesting. I have found that if you're being truly honest, and not just a sheep that only cares about spending for instance, when your party is not in power, your opinions on different topics are never going to match up completely with any party.

When you look at their positions on all the various hot button topics versus democratic and republican, I'm with the idiots. I find democrats out of the question with their stance on the second amendment, their anti war rhetoric ( and that's all it is) disgusting, because it means nothing. With the republicans, the uber religious right wing leaves me cold, I cannot reconcile my beliefs on gay rights with their stances, their rhetoric on spending, their stances on healthcare ( which seem to be closely tied in with Obama's) and small government is just as disgusting as the democrats.

My problem before this video with the libertarian party was that if they ever did get into power, why would I think they ever would act any differently than the crooks there now? I knew they wouldn't, so my answer has ALWAYS been campaign finance reform. This guy is kind of saying the same thing, we have to figure out a way to keep private money OUT of the election process (actually out of politics altogether). This money does not just come from business, other sources are just as to blame.

So while I agree with the video, I would have an issue that he seems to be kind of giving our current legislators a pass, it's all the greedy businesses fault...I say it's just as much the corrupt legislators, they are not stupid, they know what they are doing, they know what it means to the future of this country.

In closing, I have never advocated for getting rid of our government, I'm smart enough to know we absolutely need it, but it needs to be overhauled for all of us to get the service we deserve.

I can't imagine any change that would have a greater impact on both the system and the deficit.

We never would as long as the Federal Reserve exists. Even then, who is Congress to tell you how to run your business or manage your personal finances? What's to stop the CEO of a major company from running for Congress and changing the regulations to benefit their company at the expense of their competitors?

I would have to agree with this. IMO, an absolutely incredibly powerful government that regulates the crap out of everything does not sound like an answer to me...sounds like another problem.

I do want to make it clear though that I am with him when it comes to his feelings on business. I feel if they are free to do as they wish, it will never work out for the regular joe. I don't care for all of these buyouts of these big businesses by other even bigger competitors...I feel it usually leaves the consumer with less choices and higher prices, so I would hope that there is an answer somewhere in the middle...balance would be the key.
