George W. Bush: A better painter than a president

    http://mashable.com/2014/04/04/georg...-fb-main-photo

Seems like Ol' W. is finding his true calling as a painter. He seems a million times more engaged and enthused with his art career than he ever did as President. If only he had been a painter all along, we may all have been better off.

His life seems like a character ripped right out of a Kurt Vonnegut story... CIA director's son, turned alcoholic Ivy League bro, turned befuddled war mongering President, turned painter at peace with himself.

If only the problems he created left office with him.

No doubt. Same will be said of whoever wins the next election as well. We're stuck in the middle of a leadership void the likes of which this country has never seen before...

16 years of horrible by the time Obama gets the hell out! Unfortunately, we can't jettison the whole Congress with him. We need strong leadership in the White House and Congress but have had crap for a really long time.

Not to single you out, but how long? How long do you (and anyone else in this thread) think it's been since we had a good president or a good Congress? Serious question.

As for Bush's art, I suppose my first thought is that I wish he'd found a less destructive life path to work out his daddy issues. The one he chose left a lot of **** in it's wake. On the other had, I do sort of like his portraits of Berlusconi and Putin. I went in expecting to snark but I do sort of like them, so good for him. Bush was a bad president but he's not an evil figure like Cheney. I don't dislike him so much I'm going to hope against the thought he's found a measure of peace in his twilight years.

On the other hand, did anyone else laugh when they mentioned what a disciplined, hard worker Bush is? I did. He might have some painting talent but no one is going to convince me the guy isn't an up and down bozo.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

    W. Is the Dave Wannstedt of Presidents. He is an affable fellow, but way out of his league and utterly inept in a leadership role.

I never thought he was evil incarnate as many liberals painted him out to be during his presidency, but Cheney is another matter...

I'm actually impressed by Bush's paintings, not bad for an amateur late in life. Part of me thinks W. never really wanted to be in politics but he went along with it mostly to impress his dad. You can tell how much he respects Sr. and wants to make him proud. It just sucks for us he sucked in that role and so many people are caught up in familiar names to get him elected to such a high office.
