    Draft List of Miami Dolphins Player Meetings

    From Walter Football, since a lot of people don't travel to the draft forum

    Miami Dolphins:
    Justin Anderson, DL, UMass (PRO)
    Dri Archer, RB, Kent State (PRI)
    Ken Bishop, DL, Northern Illinois (LOC)
    Luke Bowanko, OL, Virginia (PRO)
    Carl Bradford, LB, Arizona State (PRI)
    Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson (PRI)
    Ka'Deem Carey, RB, Arizona (COM)
    C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa (SR)
    Marquis Flowers, LB, Arizona (PRI)
    Devonta Freeman, RB, Florida State (LOC)
    Phillip Gaines, DB, Rice (PRI)
    Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (PRI)
    Seantrel Henderson, OL, Miami (LOC)
    Rob Herron, WR Wyoming (PRI)
    Brendon Kay, QB, Cincinnati (PRO)
    Cornelius Lucas, OL, Kansas State (PRI)
    Keon Lyn, DB, Syracuse (PRI)
    Tre Mason, RB, Auburn (COM)
    Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia (PRI/PRO)
    Eric Pinkins, DB, San Diego State (PRI)
    Caraun Reid, DL, Princeton (SR)
    Shaquille Richardson, DB, Arizona (PRI)
    Michael Schofield, OL, Michigan (INT)
    Garrett Scott, OL, Marshall (PRI)
    Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington (PRI)
    Sammy Seamster, DB, Middle Tennessee State (PRI)
    Will Sutton, DL, Arizona State (SR)
    Brandon Thomas, OL, Clemson (PRI*)
    Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech (COM)
    Billy Turner, OL, North Dakota State (PRI)

    Key for what each means

    SR - Senior Bowl meeting.
    EW - East-West Shrine meeting.
    COM - Combine meeting.
    INT - Interested.
    VINT - Very Interested.
    PRO - Pro Day or campus meeting/workout.
    LOC - Local visit.
    PRI - Private visit.

    A lot of names you've never heard of or will not hear again on draft day. But these lists can be helpful in a few ways. Quite a few names I like for guys we've brought in for private workouts (Donte Moncrief has not been added to the list).

    To make it a bit easier, here are the private workouts of guys we've brought down to workout for the staff.
    Dri Archer (YES)
    Carl Bradford (YES)
    Martavious Bryant (YES)
    Marquis Flowers
    Phillip Gaines
    Jimmy Garoppolo
    Rob Herron
    Cornelious Lucas
    Aaron Murray
    Shaquille Richardson
    Garrett Scott
    Austin Sefarian-Jenkins
    Eric Pinksten
    Sammy Seamster
    Brandon Thomas (FeartheBeard's boy, but injured)
    Billy Turner (Silver's Boy)

    Also wouldn't be shocked to see a QB between rounds 3 and 5. Develop them as Tanny's backup, and if he doesn't take the jump we all expect/hope from him, you have somebody that could potentially compete with him (though a guy like Logan Thomas would be a HUGE project).

    Again, we may not end up with any of these guys. But it adds a nice talking point

    Thanks ChambersWI for putting the whole lot together. I had seen some reports but it is interesting to see the lot. I'm also reminded that last year the only guy we drafted who actually came for a visit was Don Jones, who is more of a special teams player.
    The effect of bringing in a string of players was to determine that we didn't want them enough to draft them. Maybe Hickey is more straightforward but Ireland seemed to enjoy creating illusions.
    It is also interesting to note that the first 3 players we drafted, ie Dion Jordan, Jamar Taylor and Dallas Thomas all had significant injuries and were recovering from surgery and the 4th, Will Davis was obviously understrength for the NFL and would need time to get physically strong enough to compete. Maybe if we had invited some of these guys in for a private visit, the enthusiasm to draft them may have dissipated. I have no problems with picking one or two guys as projects, but the first 4 selected knowing that we would have to wait a year seems crazy.

    I like all of the SEC QB's not named Manziel. Murray being my favorite.

    If Murray were still on the board in the 4th then Miami needs to give their pick serious deliberation.

    Interesting that Murray is the only player with whom they had/have 2 meetings.

    Here's a list put together by the Post Staff from last year.

    http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/theda...iami-dolphins/

    The running list, compiled from various league sources (we will update this as we hear more):

    * Missouri DT Sheldon Richardson, a potential top-10 pick, will visit the Dolphins’ facility on April 8.
    * Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson, a potential top-10 pick, met privately with the Dolphins at the University of Tennessee in March.
    * UNC RB Giovani Bernard, a Ft. Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas grad and potential second-round pick who rushed for just under 2,500 yards the past two seasons, visited the Dolphins facility in March.
    * Utah DT Star Lotulelei, a likely first-round pick, was personally observed at his Pro Day on March 20 by Dolphins defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers.
    * Florida LB Jelani Jenkins, a potential mid-round pick, is visiting the Dolphins’ facility today.
    * FIU SS Jonathan Cyprien, a potential late-first or second-round pick, will participate in the local prospect workout on Wednesday.
    * Clemson WR DeAndre “Nuk” Hopkins, a potential late-first or second-round pick, doesn’t have a visit set up, but the Dolphins met with him in Indy at the Combine and are said to be very interested.
    * Oregon LB Kiko Alonzo, a mid-round pick, ate dinner and met privately for over two hours with Chris Grier, Dolphins director of college scouting, the night before his Pro Day last month.
    * Florida K Caleb Sturgis, who likely will be drafted, does not have a visit or workout lined up with the Dolphins, but has had several good chats with Dolphins special teams coach Darren Rizzi, who is said to like Sturgis’ leg strength and believes he could be the best kicker in the draft.
    * Texas Tech C Deveric Gallington, a three-year starter for the Red Raiders, wrote on Twitter this morning: “Just got off the phone with the Miami Dolphins, might be learning from the homie @MikePouncey in the future.”

    Local Prospect Workouts on April 3:

    * USF CB Kayvon Webster
    * Cincinnati WR Kenbrell Thompkins
    * UCF SS Kemal Ishmael
    * USF TE Evan Landi
    * Minnesota CB Mike Carter
    * Mount Union WR Mike Denton
    * FIU G/C Shae Smith
    * Wagner ILB Mike Lombardo
    * Notre Dame P Ben Turk (son of former Dolphins P Matt Turk)

    And from the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson:

    * Miami CB Brandon McGee
    * Miami RB Mike James
    * Miami OLB Ramon Buchanan
    * Miami S Vaughn Telemaque
    * Florida LB Jon Bostic
    * Ohio State LB Etienne Sabino
    * Ohio State CB Travis Howard

    And so from the list from last year, Ireland picked Sturgis...typical...

    ---------- Post added at 10:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 AM ----------

    It does show how little a connection there really is between who visits, and who actually gets picked...

    That's one way to look at it, but with a new GM it will be hard to anticipate what he will do.
    I am very interested to see how aggressive Hickey is in this draft going after the players he will "bang the table for".
