Was at Pirates World once I think (in Hollywood or Dania?) ...sort of reminded me of Freedomland, another theme park up in the Bronx that had a short life. Was barely on my radar so I haven't thought of that place in many years. Compared to the attraction options heading due north, wasn't too impressed. Also remember in the late 60s, going to Lion County Safari not too long after they opened. Loved it.
Speaking of free concerts, before they renovated Gulfstream Park, it also used to promote some pretty good concerts on the grass for the $5 price of admission which included free parking and a $2 parimutuel betting slip. (I'd usually use it to bet longshots and once hit a 35:1 shot). Was a nice way to spend a sunny Saturday or Sunday afternoon listening to David Clayton Thomas, Taylor Dayne, Nestor Torres, a revised version of Guess Who, etc. Miss it.
