The difference in his performance is that we went from Mike Nolan's system to Kevin Coyle's.... Don't underestimate the time it takes to adjust from one system to the another. Just ask Ellerbee and Wheeler (who I expect to play better this year also)

If that's the same article I just read, it says at least part of the problem was that he was more responsible for pass coverages on TE's and backs in 2013. Hopefully he figures that out his year and 2012 wasn't a mirage.
    Thanks for the sig, Nublar.

    2012 and 2013 were Coyle's system

Not to mention Mike Nolan is just an immensely better DC than Coyle

Let's be honest here, could those two possibly get any worse? Wheeler was literally rated at the bottom. No one graded out worse than he did with the amount of snaps he received. Ellerbee definitely has the higher ceiling between the two IMO, good to see him switch back to his natural position on the weak side.

I did like Nolan when he was here but...

    2013 defense DVOA
    Atlanta 29th
    Miami 17th

    2012 defense DVOA
    Atlanta 12th
    Miami 14th

I wasn't impressed with Reshad Jones, and definitely not to the tune of $30 mil. I was disappointed that we gave him that kind of money. A good/decent game scattered about through the season does not make a player Ed Reed (in his prime). Jones has to show up big time for me to change my mind. I'm not so confident it's going to happen.

He needs to practice harder and be used schematically better

Whoever said he performed well in different system is wrong - he was in Coyle's system both years.

And Kevin Coyle, by the way, has always been the best staff member on this team. Not sure why he has ever gotten any hate when his unit has carried this team for two straight years.
