    No, because:
1)the ban is a cosmetic one. Guns that function identically to the banned ones have been available for the whole time the law was in effect
2)terrorists can smuggle in explosives, biological and chemical weapons but can't smuggle in fully automatic weapons from other countries?
3)Al Quaeda's MO is not to bust in and shoot up a place with semiautomatic (or even fully automatic) weapons. They use small cells of a few people whose weapon of choice is explosives
    and finally, and most importantly:
4)the Dems keep whining that the Patriot Act infringes on our constitutional rights (it doesn't)---well, this ban DOES.
23 January 2003: "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real...." ---Senator John Kerry

The expiration Monday of a 10-year federal ban on assault weapons means firearms like AK-47s, Uzis and TEC-9s can now be legally bought - a development that has critics upset and gun owners pleased.

The Patriot Act infringes on our constitutional rights. How can you say it doesn't?

No, the TRUTH is that you could still buy firearms that were technically IDENTICAL to the AK-47-STYLE semiautomatic rifles (true AK47s are fully automatic and illegal without a very expensive and hard to get permit), Uzi-STYLE semiautomatic carbines and TEC-9s the whole time the law was in effect. It was nothing but a cosmetic ban.

Because it doesn't, your baseless assertions notwithstanding.

    1. I'll have to look this one up, but I can't say that I know of many innocents that have had a problem with this one.
    2. Wrong, the Anti-wire tapping this is still in effect, so that is against federal law.
    3. This just went up and they were allowed to do this before the patriot act.

Okay after just a few minutes of looking stuff up I came up with this one,

    www.lifeandliberty.gov/subs/u_myths.htm

I know, before you even say it, well there are loopholes.. blah blah, everything has loopholes, the main thing is, if you are innocent, it will come out in the wash.

No, that would be incorrect. They DO need a warrant for all those things, even under the Patriot Act.
