"Desperate people do desperate things. They've had three stump speeches in a week. They've brought Newt Gingrich in, according to Wall Street Journal, as their chief strategist here [in Florida] ... They got their clocks cleaned in two debates. They're going to lose the debate Wednesday night--they know it, and they're flopping around like a dying fish."
- James Carville (From Orlando, FL on Oct. 12 - On the Bush/Cheney campaign's baseless attacks on Sen. Kerry)
Political insiders claim that Carville unoffically took over the Kerry campaign after the Republican National Convention. Apparently Carville refused to become an "official" member of the Kerry camp because he was worried that a loss, which seemed rather likely back in early September, would damage his stellar reputation. He appeared on NBC's "Today" this morning, his first television appearance in over a month.
The latest polls and Carville's appearance ought to have supporters of John Kerry absolutely elated. Victory is near.
