    Draft Pick Signings

Not sure where my question would fit, thought I would put it in here. Excuse my ignorance when it comes to the salary cap, rookie signing pool, questions.

Which is, just how much money do you have to pay someone? Ie) How much is the minimium to sign a #2 overall? Does it go by position, like a #2 Qb vs a SS? Is there a chart where I can see what the amounts are? I here everyone talk about the signing money a high 1st rounder takes, just wondering what the rules are on that. Or does it come as a percentage of what the Rookie Signing Pool is?

Thanks, and sorry if this was discussed earlier. Didn't see the topic, and don't really venture much too this forum.

Welcome to the salary cap world. It is not difficult you just have to want to learn.

There are minimum salaries but not maximums for individual players. Here is a chart.

Drafted rookies try to get contracts larger than their counter-part drafted at the same position (slot) as last year. The contracts are most times also slotted as player drafted number 34 makes less than 33 but more than 35.

Start with a good FAQ as intelligent questions are more likely to be debated.

    Gallery signs 7-year deal
    Associated Press

NAPA, Calif. -- Offensive tackle Robert Gallery, the second overall pick in the NFL draft, signed a 7-year contract with the Oakland Raiders on Thursday.

A source familiar with the negotiations, who requested anonymity, said the deal could pay Gallery as much as $18.5 million in guaranteed money and $60 million over the life of the contract. The Raiders did not release details of the contract and would not confirm salary figures.
