So THAT's who's doing it? Glad that mystery is solved as I just couldn't quite put my thumb on his slant all these years...

I think it can be insightful to listen to commentary depending on the intellect and knowledge of the commentator. Just like straight journalism(or whatever you call news w/out opinion), commentators can be good or bad.

Because some people are too stupid to form their own opinion. personally I want the news straight, just like many americans. That's why there's only one opinion based news network and 5 (on basic cable) news based networks.

Bowling For Columbine isn't a news show, which is what I was referring to. Even though Moore screwed up w/ Fahrenheit IMO, Bowling for Columbine is a very good, inciteful, informative movie.

OK, you called them just plain stupid.
Because some people are too stupid to form their own opinion. personally I want the news straight, just like many americans.
Nobody is trying to rid the world of or replace straight news, it is just that some outlets want to include commentary into their schedule. If you dont like it, change the channel. BTW, if you think only FNC offers commentary, try watching the news more. 60 minutes, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, BBC and others offer people giving their opinions also. I guess those channels are stupid too.
