As can be seen be past drafts...

Don't look into combines too much. Some recent players that I can remember are Poole and Boldin. They had poor workouts which dropped their draft status. A player should be looked at by how he performs on the field, not how his combine went.

Yeah JT is right, saying people who had exteremly great workouts at a combine doesnt signafy them as a "Franchise player" we have yet to see them play...

But theres also been players who have had great combines and turned out good. So just because a player has an awesome proday doesnt mean you should look the other way and draft the person with the bad pro day.

I agree, people judge people a lot because of their proday and they shouldnt, and they should see what they did in college. But whose not to say alex smith will be the next Marino, anything could happen.

i dont see why everyone is SO high on poole though. i mean, he was a great value at the 4th round, but he wasnt on the field much last season. you guys think he's the next surtain replacement but we wont truly find that out until this season.

You never know with a QB. Either of these guys could be very good players or you could get a Joey Harrington, not that the guy is the worst QB in the world, he may get much better. The QB is a long term selection, meaning he won't contribute right away and you might not know that he is a bust for 3-4 years later. It is a risk, but maybe one worth taking with Linehan's history with QB's. I'm sure Saban will do what is necessary to find out who is best for us at #2.

I am a huge huge Will Poole fan becasue I think he has a ton of potential but what has he done so far? Did I miss something because although he was good for a rookie I havent seen anything spectacular out of him so far. I am looking forward to this season because I think the he is going to develope into a great corner for us, but some people are already talking like he is a super star.

I never said if they had a horrible workout out, they are gonna be good. I said don't rely soley on the fact that a player had a good workout or that he had a bad workout. The only thing that counts is the way he plays on the field.
