MERGED: Bennett was offered to Fins??/Vikings offered trade

It really doesn't make sense because they said it was for Surtain and a second and we didn't have a second at the time.

Either way, I'm glad it didn't happen.

    Are they on drugs??

Surtain AND OUR #2 for a RB?? An oft-injured RB?? They got it bass-ackwards. Shoulda been Surtain for Bennett and their #2.

This is assuming the AP story is legit.

    Ya, that's screwed up.

Story is losing steam. We didn't have a second round pick to begin with. Here's the quote from the Pioneer Press...

A little birdie says the Vikings last weekend offered running back Michael Bennett to Miami, where ex-Vikings offensive coordinator Scott Linehan works, for cornerback Patrick Surtain and the Dolphins' second-round draft pick. With that selection, the Vikings would have taken kicker Mike Nugent of Ohio State.

But Miami said no thanks, and Surtain ended up going to Kansas City for the Chiefs' second-round pick.

Perhaps the source got it backwards?? Or it just wasn't true to begin with.

Still makes no sence, we didn't have a second until trading Surtain!

Bennett isn't good enough for a second alone. Why would a pro bowl shut down corner be thrown in also?
    Hope is not a strategy.

I haven't read the story, but it could have been a 2006 2nd-round pick.

Does this really matter? the draft is over and we have our RB, this story is irrelevant

Would you still not want to discuss it if the story claimed the Vikings offered #7 and #18??
