    Just way to exspensive!!!

I have a 52" HDTV that I bought and paid cash for about 8 months ago and have been enjoying it.

Now that its getting closer to football season I have been thinking about getting DIrect-TV and the NFL sunday ticket pakage. I also thought It would be great to be able to get the HD pakage and the DVR.

So I started looking into it.. OMG....

    Basic Package: $46.00/month
    HD channels: $11.00/month
    Tivo $5.00/month
    HDreciever and DVR/ $700
    NFL Sunday Ticket $318 (superfan)

    Start up cost $1080

    Monthly Cost $62

    Im depressed......

Only those who haven't done their homework would knock rear projection CRT HDTV. A professionaly ISF calibrated Rear Projection CRT HDTV just flatout out performs the other technology. DLP is about to get there. Plasma ain't even close. The knock is, you have to converge the three guns every so often plus there is a threat of phosphor burn in if you game or leave a news crawler or static image on screen for more than 20% of view time. Best advice to prevent this is to set contrast and brightness to less than 50%. Don't let the uninformed knock your Awesome HDTV.
I never had any large respect for good spelling. That is my feeling yet. Before the spelling-book came with its arbitrary forms, men unconsciously revealed shades of their characters and also added enlightening shades of expression to what they wrote by their spelling, and so it is possible that the spelling-book has been a doubtful benevolence to us.

Plasma sucks. I'm rooting for LCD to totally do away with it.

Rear projection really is the way to go. It's not in vogue to say so, but those boxes are plenty small for anybody except maybe apartment dwellers.

Jimmy James, did his homework and understands the value of the dollar.

I have the Hitachi 51 swx 20b. It was nice right out of the box. After spending a couple of months over at www.avsforum.com doing the tweaks those guys taught me and then having it professionaly ISF calibrated it will hold its own against any of the high dollar jobs. Calabration is the key.
