Dolphins owner Stephen Ross turns down $10 billion offer for control of team, stadium and F1 race.

It is. He bought 50% and stadium as well as surrounding land in 2008 then 45% in 2009. He’s never sold any, the other celebrity owners have come from the 5% he’s never owned.

If that's the case then Huizenga is the one that sold to those celebrities. It was reported/assumed that it was Ross that was bringing in the celebrity owners and there was a lot of criticism of that. If it was Huizenga, that was "concealed" because there was much ado about Huizenga keeping that 5% because he wanted to remain "invested" in the team. But if he sold to the celebs in 2009 he did it very shortly after selling that 45% interest to Ross. Not sure why he would have held back that 5% from Ross only to sell it a few months later to a bunch of celebrities for what many assumed was a below-market price.

Took more digging than it needed to but Ross bought 95% in 2009, Huizenga held onto the other 5%. Ross did sell part of the 95% but unclear how much. One article said 1% at 10 million each however there’s a lot of couples like Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony and Jlo were together at the time, Venus and Serena Williams then there’s Fergie.

Not sure if the Estefan’s and jlo/Anthony bought together maybe even the Williams sisters? So could be anywhere from 91% to 87% that Ross owns depending on if percentages were split or not and if the 1% thing is true. I’m also not sure Fergie would of had the capital to spend 10 million in 2009 that would of been most of her net worth at the time.

Either way everyone has made a fortune since 2009 lol

I find it commendable that he is not selling the team to someone that may not be as invested in the team or community. He has built the team into one that ranks near the top in all the categories in the player polls and he has done it with his own money. Now if the team can get him a Super Bowl before his time is up.

It would suck azz to sell the franchise and then see the franchise win it all that same year.

Miami coming for the Lombardi. Good decision Mr Ross. 🧐

Like him or not, he has always been willing to spend the money to upgrade the facilities and sign the players the GM and coaches have wanted.

Unfortunately the cap is the only thing that has prevented him from signing every top free agent in the last ten years. He wants to win a SB and it’s obviously not all about the money if he is willing to turn down $10 billion dollars.

What's Ross going to do with 10 billion at his age, look at the bank statement all day?

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but was listening to the LeBatard show and David Samson was on saying he doesn't think the $10 bil offer was real, bc if it was then Ross would've taken it.
