OBJ To Sign With Phins From Ian Rappaport

This idea that we are looking for 'contested catches' when we say we are looking for size.

It's a straw man. Stop using the argument.
It's not. All the conversation is about having receivers that can out jump DBs. And the point is that it's not just about size. It's about having receivers that can beat one on ones. The fallacy argument is that we need greater than 6'2" or greater WRs to diversify the room. What we need(ed) are more receivers that can get open.

Truth!!!

It absolutely is...

What you are refusing to credit is there is more than one way to get open. Some of them require quickness, some raw straight line speed, and some size and strength.

You are trying to make literally everything about quickness.

I am recognizing that our offense is built on getting separation. Tua will never be the guy that just throws up 50/50 balls. It's not his game and those players don't fit our system. Wishing for players that some incorrectly believe will be better at 50/50 balls is wishing for a a different system and a different QB.

Tua will never or he knows he hasn't had a guy? He had it in Mikey G, who was pretty much always blanketed and a 50/50 guy. Tua threw to him a decent amount. Having a receiver that you can trust to either win a 50/50 or get an incomplete is big. Once your timing is off on your first couple reads it is very beneficial to have a guy you can rely on to throw it up to so you aren't taking a sack or having to scramble around. Tua would absolutely make 50/50 throws when needed if he had the option IMO. It may very rarely be in his first couple options but Tua would definitely throw them and it would definitely help him. Especially because Tua will actually never be a scramble and buy time guy. He can do it here and there but it will never be a big part of his game, so a 50/50 guy as a later option in the tree would be big IMO.

Again... you default to 50/50 balls with your 'argument'.

That isn't all that larger receivers provide.

He was born in New Orleans Louisiana.
Probably just means Dolphins get to make playoffs again.

Oh so we're taking context into account? How about Mcdaniel dealing with backup and backup to backup QBs in year one? Or 12 different OL combos in year 2... ?
And all of the pass rushers and half of the back seven on the defense missing nearly half a season or the stretch run.

That's fair...

Big guys that win contested balls do have value... But you have to keep in mind that if your bread and butter is contested catches, it implies you're not getting open alot.. Common sense.

Big arms with accuracy problems benifit from these guys alot. For obvious reasons...

well tyler boyd to the titans. one year deal, only up to $4.5mm max (means the base is lower). and he seems like a better player than OBJ to me.

Your point being what? He is a Titan and OBJ is a Dolphin.
