How Cam Cameron Became Our Head Coach

LT, perhaps it was just because..........Cameron was a crappy coach? Basically a miracle catch and run in OT against the Ravens from the Dolphins being the first 0-16 team at the time.

for 10 bonus points, name the QB and WR that caught the pass

The Chargers only had a double-digit lead for less than 2 minutes late in the 2nd Quarter. Rivers attempted 32 passes and the Chargers backs combined for 29 rush attempts. Balanced attack it would appear.
Brady attempted 51 passes, and the Pats RB combined for 19 rush attempts.
IMO, what cost the Chargers the game was when Marlon McCree intercepted Brady, returned it 3 yards, and fumbled it back to the Pats. They then scored a TD five plays later and tacked on a 2-point conversion to tie the game at 21. If McCree had not fumbled the Chargers would likely have held on to win. They lost 24-21.

The Pats seemed to lead a charmed life sometimes. That game was one example. Another was vs KC several years ago, when the Chiefs were protecting a narrow lead and Brady threw an int, but Dee Ford of KC was very obviously lined up offsides. So the int was nullified and the Pats went on to score, and eventually won the game in OT. Ford had 13 sacks and 7 FF that season but KC traded him to SF for a 2nd round pick two months later.
McCree picked it off on 4th down too. Then ran holding it like a loaf of bread. What an idiot. You’re right. That was ballgame.

Then there appeared after the game that video clip of Marty Shottenheimer telling McCree during warm ups that when he intercepts the pass at the end of the game to just take a knee.
It was the most prophetically bizarre thing ever. I tried to find a clip but failed.
Is that right? Man.

The Marlon McCree INT and then fumble was absolutely brutal, it was on 4th down with 6 minutes left.
It epitomized sh*t happens.
Also if i remember correctly, Cam Cameron had not interviewed for the HC job before that game was played and he would not have been able to had the Chargers won.

Jason Taylor and Channing Crowder both have ridiculous stories about when Cam Cameron was HC, Jason Taylor went as far as to say he has no clue how he got the job.

I remember my uncle id good friends with travis jones, a defensive coach on the staff.

He said cam was always trying to ge the last word with staff and players. He had several clashes with Dom capers and didn't feel he should need advice from Mike mularkey who tried to help him with HC duties.

The real nail was trying to show up a defense that had Zach Thomas, Joey Porter and Jason Taylor. They at one point had told leadership they would prefer Dom capers to take over as they got tired of Cameron's attempted leadership.

The guy definitely had an arrogance to him or a smartest guy in the room aura.
When they drafted Ted Ginn and he patronized the fanbase after the pick was an ominous sign. The apple of his eye at QB that year was a 43 year old John Beck.
He made up a story to players about shutting down Michael Jordan in a college basketball game and Jason Taylor brought Jordan to speak to the team and Jordan said that was a lie in front of the whole team; I'd bet Taylor did that intentionally.
He had Daunte Culpepper escorted off the field with security while the team was trying to trade for Trent Green who everyone but Cam Cameron knew was done at that point.
I remember he was telling the herald he had sophisticated modifications to the run game such as getting Ronnie Brown the ball in the flats on a swing pass, riveting stuff.
He would have flourished as a caricature in modern day social media with ridiculous sound bites and quotes.
Fail forward fast everyone

If I ever see him again I will have to get more details on those. There were some other stories he told about his time there.
