2025 will probably be Tyreek's last year with the Dolphins. His cap number in 2024 and 2025 is a somewhat reasonable $31M and $34M respectively. However it goes up to an absurd $56M in 2026. However we can release or trade him then with only $11M in dead money and have a $45M cap savings.If the Dolphins use their first pick on a WR, that all but confirms that Tyreek is no longer a Dolphin after the 2025 season -- whether through retirement or release.
The only way around that is to restructure and extend his contract which will lower his cap number but extend our financial commitment. Do we really want to do that? Will Tyreek be the same player in 3 or 4 years from now?
